Our Coaches

Coach Larry Bublick, Club Director, began coaching girls varsity and coed volleyball at Montgomery Blair High School in 1999. He currently coaches the boys varsity team at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and teaches at Walter Johnson High School, where he coached the Wildcat's Pickleball team to their first county championship. He created the Bethesda Volleyball Club because many of his players wanted to get better, but could not devote the time or financial resources to joining a club year-round. Coach Bublick began playing volleyball in high school after being cut from the tennis and basketball teams--so he knows the importance of participation in youth sports. He is excited to help players learn the game and foster friendships on and off the court.

Coach Carolyn has loved volleyball since she first played in her 4th-grade PE class. She played outside hitter back in the day at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, coached elementary school kids in Oregon, and is currently the JV volleyball coach at Paint Branch High School. 

Coach Dan started playing volleyball at age 10 and played competitively from ages 12-18. Coach Dan transitioned from indoor to beach volleyball in college, playing in beach leagues with his friends. After college Coach Dan coached middle school, junior varsity, and varsity volleyball along with head coaching for the former club volleyball organization Southern Maryland Juniors 18u team. When coach Dan is not at BVC clinics, he is a special education teacher at Somerset Elementary School.  He currently coaches BVC's U15 team.

Coach Evan is currently the head coach of MVSA 17 Blaze and was the head varsity coach for girls and coed volleyball at Northwood High School, where he played on both the boys and coed teams as an outside hitter and middle blocker. He now plays open-level beach volleyball and the occasional indoor tournament. Coach O'neil is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and works with athletes to improve their performance and reduce injuries.

Coach Palkovich is an assistant coach at BCC High School and he currently works as an English teacher at Watkins Mill HS. He plays semi-professionally for the Nova Knights. 

Coach Brian played coed volleyball at Quince Orchard High School. Afterwards he attended Alvernia University where he played middle hitter. He currently coaches the BCC coed volleyball team, the WJ girls JV team, and plays he professionally for D.C. Dynasty. He teaches math at White Oak Middle School.

Coach Taylor was a setter for the Sherwood High School team and she coached the Sherwood boys volleyball team where she also teaches French and Spanish. 

Coach Homer Yen has been an avid volleyball player since his college days.

He recently did coaching work with various teams at Mclean School of Potomac; Rochambeau French International School; Good Counsel and MoCo Volleyball Club.

His greatest coaching joy is watching athletes connect the volleyball dots, increase their volleyball IQ as they turn the next corner, and then leave their limiting beliefs behind.
